Commissioned by Artspace, Untitled (WCWDWG) is a wearable, editioned artwork by contemporary artist Daniel Boyd. Featuring silkscreen imagery across the front and back, the T-shirt draws from the mid-century educational publication series The Australian Children’s Pictorial Social Studies, which used illustrated narratives to introduce generations of Australian schoolchildren to a carefully constructed vision of the nation.

Revisiting and reinterpreting this imagery, Boyd exposes how such publications transformed invasion into exploration, dispossession into progress, and Indigenous presence into a prelude to the Australian nation. In doing so, Untitled (WCWDWG) draws attention to the ways colonial narratives have been structurally embedded within education from an early age, while proposing an alternative, critical and satirical encounter with the images through which Australian history has been taught.

Each T-shirt is printed with an artwork label, playfully extending the conventions of gallery display into everyday life.
